Chapter - 12.2 Access to SQL (restore) Make sure to follow First Time Configuration in chapter 12.0 Navigate to Global Manager admin page and click Access-2-SQL. You would be directed to the main conversion tools interface. From here, you may restore cldb.mdb MS Access database into SQL. The restore is most suited if you would like to move installation from MS Access database to SQL, from MySQL to MSSQL, from MSSQL to MySQL, from one site to another (running MySQL or MSSQL). Warning! All records currently stored in SQL database would be effectively removed and replaced with records stored in cldb.mdb. Therefore, answer the following questions before proceeding with restore:
Note: The restore or Access to SQL does not create tables in SQL database and cannot monitor whether the cldb.mdb tables structure corresponds to the RC version currently installed with SQL. Hence keep records of a date when SQL was converted to cldb.mdb, version of RC it was converted with, specifically if you are running multiple installations with dissimilar RC versions! Type password and click "Convert MS Access to SQL". Depending on a size of the database, the conversion might take a long time. Try to run conversion tools during off pick hours and lock classified and delete current sessions from Global Manager admin page. Do not interrupt the process once it is started and wait until receive a message that the conversion complete. The SQL database at this point is restored from cldb.mdb located in db folder. Click Back to Site link to return to the default page and make sure the site is operational. Note: use only Back to Site link to return to the site and not back browser button. The link first leads to the cache reset page (which is essential after restore) and then to the default page. |
